Where is the Entrance to Tulum Jaguar Park?
A large place, the Tulum Jaguar Park offers several access points, though most people enter through the main entrance (seen above).
- Main Entrance: Located here, adjacent to the Tulum Tren Maya train station, and near the parking area (more on parking in a minute).
- South Entrance: Located on Coba Avenue (Avenida Coba), in Tulum’s hotel zone (Zona Hotelera).
- Further South (Carretera Boca Paila): Vehicles require a reservation at a Tulum beach hotel or restaurant inside the park, and must show proof.
These entrances accommodate various modes of transportation, including your Tulum rental car, bike, colectivo, and the Tren Maya (Mayan Train).

- CONANP fee (Mexico’s protected areas commission): I have seen this vary between 60-120 pesos (about $3.50-$6.50 USD), though I can’t find any information on why it varies 🤷♀️
- INAH fee (Tulum Archaeological Zone entry): 100 pesos per person (about $5 USD), which gets you access to the Tulum Ruins.
- Total cost for admission to Tulum Jaguar Park: Putting it all together, you’ll pay about 515 MXN total ($28 USD, depending on the exchange rate) to explore both the park and the Tulum Ruins.
- ⚠️ Note: Children under 12 are free.
Do I Need to Pay to Get in Tulum Jaguar Park to Access Tulum Ruins?
Yes — Access to the Tulum Archaeological Zone is now fully integrated within the Jaguar Park system, as the main entrance to the ruins is located in the park.
This means you’ll first pay to access Tulum Jaguar National Park (295 MXN pesos), then pay a second entrance fee at the Tulum Ruins (100 MXN pesos).
At the park’s main entrance, there is also the CONANP fee for Mexico’s protected areas commission, which is between 60-120 MXN pesos.
This means access to the Tulum Ruins will cost you about 515 pesos total ($28 USD). You can pay with either cash or card.
⚠️ Of course, you can always book a Tulum Ruins tour here and visit the ruins, as well as other cool sites like the cenotes, with a local guide.
Which Tulum Beaches Can I Access Inside Tulum Jaguar Park?
Jaguar National Park includes several of Tulum’s most pristine coastal areas — but access is regulated, and often, ticketed.
Playa Pescadores and Playa Santa Fe
Two of the best Tulum beaches, these are within the park’s boundaries, so you’ll need a Jaguar Park entry ticket to access them.
You can walk to these beaches or ride the FREE electric shuttle that stops at the Tulum Ruins, these beach access points, and other parts of the park.
Other Tulum Beaches in Jaguar Park
A variety of other beaches are listed among the seven accessible within the park, including Playa Mangle and Playa Maya.
There’s also Tulum Ruins Beach and Mirador Beach, which are both located near the ruins.
Is There Parking at Tulum Jaguar Park?
Yes — There is parking at Tulum Jaguar Park, but it’s very limited and has restrictions. (In fact, I don’t recommend driving there.)
- The main entrance near the Tren Maya station offers FREE parking, though know that spots fill up quickly on afternoons, weekends and peak travel times.
- The Avenida Coba (hotel zone) entrance has a paid parking lot which is typically about 160 MXN ($7 USD). From here, it is about a 10 minute walk into the park.

Do note that access is restricted and only vehicles with reservations at Tulum beach clubs or restaurants inside the park are allowed past the gate.

What’s Prohibited in Tulum Jaguar Park?
To uphold conservation and preserve the visitor experience, Jaguar Park enforces several restrictions.
These rules help maintain the park’s quiet, natural ambiance and protect both its ecosystems and archaeological features — so please follow them.
- 🚫 No plastic (this includes single-use water bottles and plastic bags, which will be confiscated at the entrance).
- If you want to bring snacks, make sure they’re packed in a reusable container (like Tupperware).
- For water, bring a refillable bottle like this Water-To-Go bottle — it’s the only way you’ll be allowed to carry water inside.

Yes — There is a FREE electric shuttle you can take within Tulum Jaguar Park to access all the different places and sites within the park.
Can I reach the park by bike from downtown Tulum?
Yes — It’s about a 20-35 minute ride, though the heat and humidity can be intense, so bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a sun hat.

Is the museum inside the park covered by the park entry fee?

What wildlife can you see in Tulum Jaguar Park?
Visitors may see coatis, iguanas, and other jungle species — and though the park emphasizes jaguar conservation, actual jaguar sightings are extremely rare.
Can I walk along the beach if I’m staying at a beachfront hotel outside the park?
Yes — The Zona Hotelera, or Tulum Hotel Zone, is located on the beach. This means you can walk to *some* beaches in Tulum Jaguar Park.
Though some Tulum beaches in the accessible on foot, the beach sections by the Tulum Ruins require full entry tickets.
